Richard Weigand is a self taught wood worker with an impressive background reproducing Greene & Greene furniture. Weigand’s work is reflective and organic revealing inspiration from many greats in art and architecture such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Greene & Greene, and Nakashima. Weigand states, “If a person cares enough, pays attention enough to the creation, it will be endowed with life.” His slab tables are thoughtfully hand crafted out of local hardwoods. Refusing to force the wood to become a manmade object, Weigand allows himself to be enlightened by the living character of his wood before creating his art. Natural edges, spacious knots and exquisite grooves demands the viewer’s attention. The result leaves one with a sense of integrity and longevity.
